Over this past week me and my partner ziffur4814 have been working really hard to get the wooden parts of our banjo lacquered, (btw thats what we're making, an ELECTRIC BANJO!) here are some pictures of the neck and the resignator box (for those who aren't up with the hip young banjo lovin' lingo thats the main part of the banjo where the sound is made, it is also where the guitar pickups are going to make the banjo an electric banjo instead of a normal one.) These pictures are of the main pieces after about the fourth coating of lacquer, and they've been sanded recently.

Today the whole class went into the computer lab part of the tech lab and each group tested out their computers to see if they would work. Our group's computer would not work and would not boot up through the hard drive. We have no idea what we did wrong, but we are planning on finding out and fixing it so that it will work. It's pretty fustrating, but hopefully we will get it fixed.

Cleaning Up Wires

Today we used basically all our time on cleaning up the wires in our case by using split lome and wire ties. We did this for the purpose of making the inside of our case look really neat and clean and not all tangled and up and messy. This is exspecially important that the wires are all cleaned up and neat because on the side of our case is a window so that people can see what is inside the case, the motherboard and all. Therefore, it would be better to be looking into a computer and seeing all the wires and the motherboard and all the other parts all nice and neat and look cool rather than looking in and seeing all the wires tangled and bad looking.

Plugging power into motherboard

Today we continued to plug in the wires into our motherboard so certain things that need to be running get power. Our motherboard wires were some what hard to plug in because we had individual wires unlike some other groups who's wires were all connected together so it would be an easy process. But no, our's had to be single wires. Anyways, we still got all our wires connected to the right places because we used the manual to help us.

Today Mr. Kelley told us how to install the RAM into our computers. We read the manual and learned how to put it in correctly. After we installed the RAM we plugged in all the wires from the power supply into all the correct outlets so that they would have power. That is what we have been working on today.

Today, for the first part of the class, Mr. Kelley explained to us the two different types of CPU's we will be using. They are Intell and AMD. Our motherboard called for an AMD. Mr. Kelley explained that we needed to put the chip inside first in the correct way. Then you put the heatsync on top by connecting these levers to hooks and then putting a different level between a different hook to set it in. We got ours all installed.

We got somewhat introduced to the CPU that we are going to be putting inside our case. We haven't installed it yet, but we will get there fairly soon. Today we pretty much did the same thing as yesterday with managing blogs and looking and working more on our motherboard, trying to figure out and learn what is going to be happening as the days advance.

Today We finished putingt in our mother board. We made sure that everything was in place correctly. We also tried managing our blogs and someone was supposed to be doing our story board. Im not sure that we have gotten that far yet because our group was more focused on getting the mother board in, wether thats bad or not. We actually did not get that far yet with the storyboard, but at least we got our motherboard in correctly so we are basically on track.

Today we put in our motherboard into our new computer cases. Mr. Kelley did a presentation about it so that we new what to do. We had to put these things onto our case first so that when we put in our motherboard it will be rised instead of rubbing against our case. We attached the motherboard to our case by screwing it into the right holes on the case.

Day 15- Logo and Looking/Discussing Computer Parts

Today we have finally uploaded our logo. We also talked about computer parts and discussed their importance.
Now we took notes on computer parts some more. Kelsea took notes this time:
you have to put the screws in the motherboard. The most important part of the computer is the motherboard. A motherboard card isnt that big. Purple plug in used to plug into a printer. There are alot of plug ins, that have to be plugged into other parts to make the computer work. There are two differnt types of motherboards and they are both really differnt. One either has more or less of what the other one has. On the bottom of the motherboard, there are a bunch of swirly lines. It is very rough on the bottom of the motherboard. There is a cpu that you can take out of the motherboard, there is also a cpu in the motherboard, and if you have that then you have to have a ram. Transisters transist heat in the motherboard. They put a little battery in the motherboard, because if the power ever went out, it would make it so you can use it more, even if the power went out. Computer people always want you to buy more and more stuff for computers.

Now we need to find the highest and lowest priced motherboards on Newegg. The two kinds we are comparing are Intell and AMd

Day 14 Talking about tools for our computer

Today Mr. kelly gave us our cases with all of our tools inside. We also got to open our computer cases, and take them out of our boxes. We put thumb screws into the case, and took the other ones out. Mr. Kelly talked to us about how to work with the tools and how to use them. Then we took pictures of our computer case, and of us with the computer case. Meagen was absent this day so we could not get a picture with her in it.

Today Mr. Kelley talked to us about shipping and ordering our cases. He said that he already ordered them. There was a problem with someone elses case in a different class. I guess that the case they wanted wasn't in stock anymore so Mr. Kelley has to call NewEgg and ask them for a different case. He showed us through the e-mails he recieved after he ordering all the cases and parts and the process it has to go through.
